Luke Gichard
Luke completed a Diploma in Applied Science at the Auckland University of Technology in 2019, followed by a four-year Bachelor of Chiropractic degree at the New Zealand College of Chiropractic. Throughout his studies, Luke treated numerous athletes, many of whom were frequently injured, with a significant portion competing in Crossfit. He recognised a need for integrating exercise-based rehabilitation as well as hands on therapy in order to correct underlying movement deficiencies.
Growing up, Luke’s dream was to become an All Black just like every other Kiwi kid. He spent his weekends competing in rugby or cricket until his early adult years. However, a consecutive number of injuries led him to develop a passion for strength and conditioning, ultimately shaping his journey to incorporating exercise and movement into clinical practice.
Luke understands the fundamental movement principles necessary to participate in a variety of sports, specifically in Crossfit, weightlifting, and strength training. He provides a range of manual therapy techniques, including manual adjustments and soft tissue therapy such as active release technique, to reduce muscle spasm adnd pain. He recognises the importance of integrating corrective exercise in order to improve stability and strength for long-term change.
In his spare time, you can find him weightlifting, throwing down in a Crossfit metcon, or avidly following cricket, rugby union, or NRL (up the Wahs).
