HOW DOES physiotherapy TREATMENT WORK?
When you first visit our Albion physio clinic, we will do an assessment so we can understand your pain and how it’s affecting you. After that, we do an examination to identify why your pain is happening and what our diagnosis is. Then we can start treatment to alleviate your pain.
-
Active Release Technique
Active Release Technique (ART for short) uses muscle release techniques that involve shortening and lengthening the muscle under pressure to break up scar tissue and muscle tightness. It’s our primary method for treating problems relating to muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and nerves.
-
Joint Manipulation
Joint manipulation is when a chiropractor adjusts a joint with a quick thrust motion (commonly known as getting your ‘cracked’) to decrease pressure or discomfort on the joint. Whilst definitely helpful, most chiropractors only focus on this area, but at Elite HP we use multiple techniques for a more holistic approach.
-
Dry Needling
Dry needling is used to elicit a response from your soft tissues (the muscle will often ‘twitch’) to release tension and aid healing. Think of it like a super-deep massage which can be both incredibly helpful and satisfying. Whilst it might look like acupuncture, dry needling is more focused on releasing tensions and knots.

You will likely need to have a few sessions to properly fix your impairment, but our goal is to give you the treatment, knowledge and support so that you DON’T have to come back! The Elite method is about fixing your injury, not to see you every 2 weeks.
If you keep coming back our Albion physiotherapists haven’t done their job. As much as we love our patients we are happier when they are pain free.

During your first visit to our physio clinic, you'll undergo an initial assessment where our physiotherapists will evaluate your condition.
They will then create a personalised treatment plan that may include a combination of massage therapy, musculoskeletal physiotherapy, and occupational therapy to address your specific needs and help you achieve your rehabilitation goals.
-
Yep! Our Albion physiotherapists offer HICAPS facilities, which means you can claim on the spot, and pay the gap via cash or card. Our clinic also accepts Medicare (EPC) plans that are prescribed by your family doctor or GP.
Additionally, we are authorised treatment providers under the Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA) Treatment program and can provide care to eligible patients under this scheme.
-
Our physiotherapists undergo extensive training in orthopaedic examination and functional anatomy, and many have completed advanced degrees in the field. Their expertise enables them to conduct a thorough evaluation of your condition, which often negates the need for imaging. However, if your practitioner believes that imaging is necessary, they will inform you accordingly.
If you have already undergone imaging, you are welcome to bring the results to your appointment.
-
If feasible, it's advisable to wear clothing that enables your physiotherapist to visualize the area of pain or injury. We recommend wearing comfortable and flexible attire suitable for massage, exercise or physical activity.
This will help facilitate movement and allow your physiotherapist to assess the affected site more accurately.
-
At Elite HP, we welcome referrals from healthcare providers, but it's not mandatory to have one to see our physiotherapists. In certain cases, a GP referral may entitle eligible patients to access Medicare rebates.
Additionally, we accept DVA claims and WorkCover insurance after consultation with your GP.
