Pilates is a very popular form of exercise and offered widely in the fitness community. At Elite however we use reformer pilates not just as a form of exercise but offer it to be specific to the individual to target muscle activation, weaknesses and biomechanical compensations. Reformer pilates is a great tool for injury recovery but also as a preventative exercise to strengthen your compound and intrinsic muscles to allow full body co-ordination. Additionally, pilates is a fantastic tool for women planning to get pregnant, prenatal and post-natal. Supporting your body during this time is key for a healthy and easy pregnancy and that tough post-natal period.

Each class is based on the individual needs in a small group environment versus a fitness studio which give programs to the masses. Pilates instructors at Elite have a wealth of knowledge in how the body moves and work closely with each health practitioner to ensure you achieve the body you desire – strong, fit, healthy and pain free!

Individual tailored exercises

Each exercise given from your instructor has modifications to suit your needs and goals. If you are struggling with a shoulder injury, they will tailor it to work on the stabilisers while making sure the injury is not aggravated. If you’re an advanced athlete they will be sure to challenge you with a sliding scale of difficulty levels presented for each exercise.

By working closely with your healthcare therapist the pilates instructors will be fully aware of your injury, limitations and direction needed with your exercise rehabilitation. They will then continually communicate to be sure you are progressing in the right direction.

With only four people in each class you will get a lot of guidance and help throughout your session. The instructors will continually be sure you are engaging the correct muscles by actually doing hands on work with you.

The Elite health and performance exercise method will involve the following:

  • Each class will start with muscle activation for the muscle group that will be targeted, empowering you to understand your bodies needs and restrictions so we can “wake up” and strengthen your body.

  • Pre pilates assessment – If you are new to the clinic, one of our friendly therapists can do a full review of your injury history or current injuries to help you reach your exercise goals!

  • Pre and Post Natal classes – All classes are open to new mummies and new mummies to be.

Maintain a strong healthy body during and after pregnancy.

Further than rehabilitating injuries and as an exercise method to prevent other problems pilates is an amazing method to maintain a strong healthy body during and after pregnancy. Elite Health and Performance also offers some mums and bubs classes. These classes will be run at specific times during the day so be sure to ring and speak to us if you require this class.
